Chris Feudtner, MD, PhD, MPH, HEC-C is a pediatrician, epidemiologist, historian, and ethicist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania who focuses on improving the lives of children with complex chronic conditions and their families. Dr. Feudtner was named the inaugural Steven D. Handler Endowed Chair of Medical Ethics when the Department of Medical Ethics was established in 2008. He currently holds the David Cornfeld Endowed Chair in Pediatrics and serves as Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics. In addition, Dr. Feudtner serves as an attending physician and Director of Research for the Justin Michal Ingerman Center for Palliative Care, the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) and Complex Care Service. PACT provides palliative, end-of-life and bereavement services for children and families. The Complex Care Service provides care for hospitalized children with complex chronic conditions and technology-dependent healthcare needs. Over the years, Dr. Feudtner has done a wide variety of research projects and been involved in developing clinical programs while also taking care of pediatric patients. He provides palliative care, complex care, and ethics consultations as a healthcare ethics consultant for the Department of Medical Ethics.
